Details of the SEDORE's great features:
- 12 to 24 hour burn
Depending on the type of fuel used, the Sedore can burn from 12 to 24 hours on one filling!
- Steady controlled heat
The unique design of the Sedore causes the fuel to burn ONLY at the bottom of the fuel chamber. As the fuel at the bottom is consumed, the fuel load is slowly being lowered into the burning zone. Because the fuel only burns at the bottom, the entire fuel load never burns all at once, thus creating an even, steady heat, right down to the last log. And the temperature is easily controlled with the simple, adjustable air inlets located in the front of the stove.
- Great circulation
Because of the steady heat, the Sedore creates a natural circulation pattern that reaches the entire house. No internal or external fans are needed.
- No electricity needed
The Sedore operates without the use of any electrical components. This is important during power outages or in remote areas where electricity is not available. You will never again be without heat; and your only cost is the fuel you use.
- Multiple fuel sources
The Sedore will burn almost anything: firewood, ear corn, recycled wood, paper cubes, corn, cardboard, wood pellets, grain, etc. You can burn whatever is cheapest and most available in your area at any time. Even green or wet wood can be used when placed toward the top of the firebox, because it will have time to dry before reaching the burning zone.
- Corrugated construction
The corrugated construction of the Sedore not only gives it strength, but also provides a greater surface area which radiates the heat more efficiently. The corrugation also helps with the circulation of air around the fuel inside the burning chamber, thus giving a cleaner, more efficient burn with less ash and fewer emissions.
- Top-loading
The Sedore is a top-loading stove, which is a great safety feature, because there is little chance of hot embers or sparks escaping while loading fuel. And no more stooping or bending over while loading fuel.
- No firebricks needed
In most stoves, firebricks are used to insulate the burning chamber so the steel will not burn out. This is because most stoves get very hot while the entire fuel load is burning; but the firebricks do not allow for the efficient transfer of heat, thus causing much heat loss up the chimney.
The Sedore uses no firebricks because it does not reach 900ºF – the temperature at which steel begins to break down. Although the Sedore does not get as hot internally as other stoves, the steady heat is transferred so efficiently, that it produces more heat for your home with less heat-loss up the chimney than any other stove. You will be amazed at how little fuel is needed to heat your home with the Sedore.
- Efficient, clean burn
The Sedore gets more heat out of less fuel than any other stove. Smoke is re-circulated and re-burned in the burning chamber, before pressure pushes the exhaust gases out through the fire-wall at the bottom and back of the burning chamber. In the secondary burning chamber, any unburned exhaust gases are consumed. The clean exhaust gases make for a cleaner chimney and cleaner emissions.
- Easy ash clean-out
No ash-pan, no shovel, no grates, no shutting down! Simply open the side door and pull out the ashes with the tool provided. This can be done at any time, but we recommend mornings or evenings just before refueling. You will appreciate how the draft pulls the light ash dust right back into the stove, instead of into your home.
- Versatile
Sedore now offers the option of Hilkoil water loops. These stainless steel loops can be mounted to the Sedore in a variety of ways to heat water for radiant floor heat, water heaters, baseboard heat, etc.
